Maung Win is one of the many migrants working in the rubber plantation zone of Kawthaung Township. He moved there seven years ago, and in his third year, he began to feel ill. Initially, he experienced a cough, low-grade fever, and back pain. While treatment at a nearby clinic provided temporary relief, his symptoms always returned after a few days. This cycle continued for two years, during which his condition worsened. Maung Win struggled to walk, faced financial difficulties, and couldn’t afford to send his children to school. His children also fell ill, but he couldn't afford medical care. Overwhelmed by these hardships, Maung Win fell into depression and attempted suicide.

Eventually, Maung Win found a national tuberculosis program clinic supported by Alight, where he was diagnosed with pulmonary and spinal tuberculosis. After understanding his condition, his family was screened and also diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis. With the proper treatment, Maung Win has regained his ability to walk, and his family was cured of tuberculosis. Now, he is an advocate for tuberculosis screening and is grateful for the support he received from Alight.
