Dear Alight Community,
Today, we share the news that after a 25-year career of working in international development and global aid, Alight’s CEO, Jocelyn Wyatt is getting ready to embark on her next chapter closer to home.
Jocelyn Wyatt, who has served as Chief Executive Officer of Alight since 2021, will step down from the role effective December 31, 2026. Jocelyn has been working closely with Alight’s Board of Directors to ensure a seamless leadership transition since she first announced her departure to the Board in May. Transition plans were shared with Alight’s staff in early June. An executive search for Alight’s new CEO will launch in August, led by an executive search committee composed of board, staff and key partners. Sarah Hartman, Alight’s Chief Operating and Experience Officer, will step in as Interim CEO as of January 1, 2027. This planned leadership transition period will ensure continuity for Alight’s community of 2,300 humanitarian workers and 4 million customers around the world.
Jocelyn’s relationship with Alight began long before she became our CEO. For more than a decade, through her work at IDEO.org, she partnered closely with Alight, and played a key role in American Refugee Committee becoming Alight. During this time, she helped to shape some of Alight’s most impactful and groundbreaking initiatives, such as the I Am A Star campaign, Asili, Kuja Kuja, The Color Movement, and In Our Hands.
Jocelyn's tenure at Alight has spanned several of the most significant humanitarian emergencies of the past decade. Within days of the February 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Alight deployed teams to the Poland-Ukraine border and launched Quick Impact Projects to support 526,000 people. Jocelyn also catalyzed a partnership with Airbnb.org so that Alight Guides were able to provide 73,146 nights of free housing for displaced Ukrainians. In Sudan, Alight sustained and expanded operations through three years of conflict, delivering health, nutrition, water and protection services to more than 2 million people in areas where public systems had largely ceased to function. In 2025, Jocelyn navigated the organization through one of the largest funding disruptions in the organization’s 47-year history, ensuring that all decisions were guided by our commitment to Alight’s customers.
Under Jocelyn’s leadership, Alight also implemented a distributed leadership model, with local Executive Directors leading decisions across Sudan, Somalia, Rwanda, Uganda, Pakistan, Europe, El Salvador, Southeast Asia and the United States. In September 2024, Alight opened its Co-Creation Hub in Nairobi, a shared space where customers, staff and partners design services together.
While we are sad to say goodbye to Jocelyn, we are confident that Alight’s highly experienced Executive Leadership team and Enterprise Executive Directors will continue to guide Alight’s work with customers around the world and ensure the continued health of the organization during the leadership transition and beyond.
In the new year, Jocelyn will turn her focus closer to home, bringing her experience in co-creation, human-centered design, and community-based leadership to her home state of West Virginia. But in the meantime, she will continue serving as CEO and is focused on building on the remarkable momentum we’ve built together as a community.
